Mukesh Ambani is the chairman, managing director and the largest shareholder of Reliance Industries, India's largest private sector enterprise and a Fortune 500 company.
His personal stake in Reliance Industries is 48%. His wealth is valued at Rs. 196000 crores(INR) (according to Forbes), making him the wealthiest Indian in the world, the wealthiest man in Asia and the world's 7th wealthiest person.
Mukesh holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai. Mukesh Ambani joined Reliance in 1981 and initiated Reliance's backward integration from textiles into polyester fibres and further into petrochemicals.
Mukesh Ambani set up one of the largest telecommunications companies in India in the form of Reliance Communications (formerly Reliance Infocom) Limited. However, Reliance Infocom now is under Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group post the brothers' split.
Ambani owns the Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians.
He is also on the International Advisory Board of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He is married to Nita Ambani and has three children Isha, Anant and Akash. Antilia, is the proposed name for a twenty-four floor (560 ft or 173 m) building presently completed in Mumbai for Mukesh Ambani.
